Hello there, I'm Ruben Ooms, a starting web developer owning a small apartment in Belgium. I started with this project the 8th of February of 2009. Like maybe most of us 2008 was filled with Ideas but none of them actually was good enough to really get started. Now, following my 2009 new years resolution, I will try to bring one of these projects I had in mind to life. This blog will hopefully help me to keep some things straight. Working with a 'Still-todo-list' has worked for me in the past. The feeling of striking out those todo-items...oeh.. now that's excitement! So anyhow ,in this way I will try to keep my thoughts ordered throughout the process of finishing this project. You probably know the feeling of to much things still to do... so where to start then? 'I will do this first, then that or maybe I start here ... ', When you finally started you decide something else is also important and before you know things don't make sense anymore. It becomes a mess. This is ofcourse a big problem, and the solution is simple. A PLAN... But actually I'm not that big of a fan of a complete plan that is set up before anything else is made. Don't ask me why but I like to get my hands dirty right away. (Probably the child in me that won't go away, but small price to pay because that child is the same reason why I'm now started this project.) Ofcourse this means some work will be done not that efficient but better not efficient then not at all I guess.
What to expect...
What will I create? MillionDollarStartups.com... A few weeks back I was thinking about what makes a startup successful, ofcourse lots of things came to mind but I really wanted something to measure the successfulness... Number of users/visitors?, page views?, investersmoney?, etc... Lots of things that really give some idea but in the end all these things lead to the same underlying HOW-MUCH-IS-IT-WORTH-question. Most startups are created with the intention of making money out of it. Ofcourse there are exceptions... But let's follow my opinion. This is my blog so why wouldn't we. So my conclusion: Your startup is most likely to be succesfull when it's worth a gazillion dollar. Gazillion, billion, million... all the same... (okay, I would probably prefer the first one to but hey, one million dollars, that's the magic amount everybody is wishing for. So milliondollarstartups.com, sounds good no? I hope you're reading all this because it got to your attention in the following manner: "searching... reading reading... MILLION? ... huh.. startups... interesting... million DOLLAARS????? AND startups wow! ... what's this ... lets click this little link and find it out..." Hopefully I'm spot on. ( If not please let me stay in my own imaginary bubble of believe...) or maybe even better... let me know how you ended up here?
in this blog you can follow the progress and decisions I make ... all of this in a pseudo English language that will hopefully get better while writing a lotttt of blog posts here in the next few months, until then please excuse me for stupid errors in my English. So I guess that's the plan for now. If you want to ask me something, please do so on the right in the comments section, I'm an answering maniac so it wouldn't take long for a response.
